Support Moncure School's "Toys For Tots" Campaign
Moncure School’s Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is excited about helping others this Christmas season. The National Junior Honor Society will collect brand-new, unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots 2014 Campaign.   The primary goal of "Toys for Tots" is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Our students are helping the U.S. Marines reach their goals and helping children of Chatham County receive gifts this Christmas season.  Please bring your new, unwrapped Christmas toy to school between December 1st-December 10th and help others this Christmas.
First Nine Weeks Awards Ceremony Held
On Monday, November 10, 2014, Moncure School held its first nine weeks awards ceremony.  Students earned awards for making honor roll and reaching their independent reading goals.  Due to the huge monetary support from our PTA, students are entered into a drawing for Barnes and Noble giftcards, book lights and Nook Glowlights.  Nook Glowlights were awarded to five students. Moncure School had 88% of middle school students make independent reading goals this nine weeks.  This is the highest percentage that the middle school students have ever earned.  The classes that won popcorn/movie celebrations were Mrs. Peele, Mrs. Mullins, Ms. Bollinger, 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade.  Thank you PTA for supporting this wonderful reading program.  Thank you students, teacher, parents and families for helping motivate your students/children to read.  Keep Reading!!!!
